Silver Falls State Park

Silver Falls State Park is a delightful find just outside of Salem.

I didn't actually get to go on this trip as it is one of those places that has "rules."  I finally asked mom what "rules" meant and she said that it means that dogs aren't allowed.  I said "So, what's the problem?"  And then she did the unthinkable . . . she said I was a dog!  At that point I decided I wasn't talking to her anymore, (at least for a day or two), and went to grandpa.  He understood and let me pout in his lap.

Mom left me overnight with grandma and grandpa, which was fun, and I was glad to see her when she got back.  She showed me the pictures and told me all about the park.  There is an 8 mile trail that has 10 waterfalls along it's path.  Mom didn't hike the whole trail, but parts of it and got to see some pretty waterfalls and beautiful scenery along the way.

The trail to the falls you've just seen was a little over 1 mile long and descended into a canyon.  Mom said she wasn't entirely sure which was harder, hiking in with "the breaks on" most of the way, or the 1 mile climb out!  She did say it was definatly worth it for the beautiful scenery though!

There is an old lodge on the other side of the park near another waterfall.  Inside is a snack bar and displays of interesting information about the area.

I was glad to see mom when she got back and, although I hated to miss the trip (and being called a dog), all was forgiven!
