It is amazing to see these marks of history and imagine the teams struggling to pull the heavy laden wagons over the crest of the hill.

Register Cliff State Historic Site
At register cliff, many of the travelers inscribed their names on the soft sandstone rock, a lasting memorial to their passing here. I could just imagine, as a traveler, the impulse to carve my name into the rock for those coming behind me to see, perhaps even as a message to family who might follow in the future.
