Mesa Falls Scenic Byway

Picture
Mesa Falls Scenic Byway is almost 29 miles long.  The major attractions are Upper and Lower Mesa Falls.  We traveled the length of the byway, seeing both of the falls and found a nice campground shortly after leaving the byway.  The entire drive was absolutely beautiful!

Lower Mesa Falls is created by Henrys Fork of the Snake River plunging 65 feet between columns of basalt.  The viewing platform, 1/4 mile away was built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Mom really did have a leash on me in this picture but, thanks to photo editing, it doesn't show.

As we continued our drive along the byway, the scenery remained beautiful and we saw some pretty wild flowers too!

After leaving the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway we headed south on highway 20 a short way to Riverside Campground and spent the night.

I was glad to stop for the night because it had been a long day
